Hello Fellow Ideators!

We’re newer to TI, and our content library is growing quickly. Does anyone use the TI Platform to track and report subject matter experts or key contacts for a piece of content?

Ideally we’d like to track who the SME is for each piece of content so we can:

  1. run a report
  2. contact the SME
  3. identify if updates are needed or the content should be retired

all in TI instead of tracking this via Excel or something else outside of the system.

Digging through the various types of content, I didn’t see a field we could use for an SME that isn’t visible to the learners.

  • We already use the Author field to display pricing (we cannot use the CC eCommerce).
  • We do not have a separate content management system (outside of TI or OneDrive/local networks).
  • We actively use Courses, Micro Learning, Videos, Learning Paths, and upload PDFs that we’d want to review annually.

🤔 Do you track SMEs for pieces of content in Thought Industries? If so where/how? If not, how do you manage your content update process?

Hi @RKBrodeur

You can utilise two options here

  1. On the Design tab you can reutilise the Source or Author fields so track the SME, on the catalog settings just make sure you uncheck the “Display Author” option if you do not want this to display
  2. You can create a Custom Content Field “SME” in Course > Settings> Organization and Display, and Unselect “Browsable” so it does not appear on the catalog.

Using both options you can add the SME, and decide if you want the information to display or not, and then report on the related content using the below report

Hi Jon -

Thanks for sharing these ideas! We ended up using the Custom Fields because they are reportable. We have one for the SME (aka Contact Person) and anther for Last Reviewed Date so we can identify outdated content and who to contact.

We currently are using our Author Field to display content prices. We are not using eCommerce and needed a way to let our clients know the how much a course costs.

Appreciate the insight and confirmation that we’re using the areas of the system appropriately.

Hi @RKBrodeur

I am delighted to hear that you found a sulution and can report as needed.

Thanks for letting me know

Have a great day

Jon
