Hello-

I am trying to quality check my MAU report by referencing other MAU reports described by your users. I’d like to review the filters/criteria in the MAU report on the Report page but TI doesn’t let me see which report was used.

It would be great if you could just list, for MAUs for example, the 5 most common ways people build that report, using your base reports as a start.

But as it is, it’s challenging to navigate.

So I’ll ask my specific question here: What is the best base report to use if I am trying t count all monthly users who have registered for, enrolled in, or taken any action on a piece of content?

Maybe @jeannehurtz you can help since you were able to help another customer?

Hey @Lisa R

Yes, we can help! I’m reviewing guidance internally and will come back to you asap. Could you share what base report you are using to build in the custom filters?

Thanks!
Jeanne

@Lisa R

Content Actions has all status changes like enrollment, started, completed. Do you want to know if people viewed pages in content even if they didn't start or complete in that month?

To do the latter, you need to look at additional fields but let’s first ensure this is the base report you are working from.
Please confirm - thank you!

Jeanne

Hi @Lisa R

In a quick review of your instance, it looks like you are using Learner Last Active Date.

As of June 30, 2025, Last Active date will now updated based on the learner doing these actions:
• Logging in
• Viewing/ interacting with Content
• Viewing/ interacting with Pages on site
• Enrolling/ Starting/ Complete a piece of Content
Additionally, the Last Active date will update when the create/update user endpoint is hit. No other endpoint should update the Last Active date.
Note:
Confirmed an Admin update to user profile in UI will NOT update the Last Active Date.

The only consideration with using this report is if you want to go back and see that someone was active in May but it's now August. Last Active Date won't show that because it's only the most recent last active date

It's ok to use if you are always looking at the "last X time interval" to see who was active.

But Content Actions base report will let you look at specific months or compare year over year in a specific time frame.

Hope this helps!

Jeanne

Great. @jeannehurtz  Sorry for the late reply--I didn’t get a notification that you’d responded.

We’re actually using Content Actions, not Learner Last Active. For content types, we’re using status change, certificate granted, and enrollment.

My goal is to show % of customer accounts with MAUs.

But here’s the problem: When I remove “enrollment” as a content action type, the number goes down to almost zero. When I include “enrollment” as an action type, it’s almost 100%.

So the numbers are wildly different between the two. Is there some nuance I am missing?

Hi @Lisa R

Not a problem! I recommend attending Open Sessions on Mondays (4:30pm EST) or Thursdays (10:30am EST). Submit this question before hand (a day or two) as this gives us time to prepare for our 1:1 discussion. You might email success@thoughindustries.com a few days before you plan to join and we can advise the next Open Session where our technical resource is particularly expert on reporting.

During Open Sessions, we can walk through your custom report together and determine next steps or clarify what you are seeing.

Many thanks!

Jeanne from your Success Team

@Lisa R , Hi again!

We would also look at using started in addition or instead of enrollment. If enrollment makes it go to zero our suspicion is that people enroll but don't start it.

Could you share the URL to the custom report?
Thanks again,

Jeanne
