Hello-

is Last Active Date working & accurate yet?

Just hoping to give our customers an update.

Thank you!

Hi Julie,

I hope you are well.

Last April we reinstated the field for LastActiveDate. This update ensured the Last Active data point displays accurately everywhere, apart from two exceptoins which are listed in these Release Notes. No other changes have been made to this field since.

Warmest regards

Jon

Hi @jonsynnott

Couple of questions:

“Records time spent on a learner facing page every 2 minutes”

  • If a user spends less than two minutes is Last Active not updated?
  • Are any pages excluded from the “learner facing page” criteria - for example Dashboard, Catalog etc?

“We stop recording time spent once it is determined the learner is no longer active on the site.”

  • How long has Ti set for “no longer active” ?

Thanks,

Chris

thanks @jonsynnott

Hi @Christopher.Hernley

Good questions -  See below

  • If a user spends less than two minutes is Last Active not updated? JS - The LastActive is updated on landing on the dashboard (or whatever first page is presnted when they log in, and then every two minutes thereafter. If the learner is not logged in for 2 minutes then only the initial LastActive will be tracked
  • Are any pages excluded from the “learner facing page” criteria - for example Dashboard, Catalog etc? JS - No all pages that the user views after logging in are tracked

“We stop recording time spent once it is determined the learner is no longer active on the site.”

  • How long has Ti set for “no longer active” ? JS - inactive time within a courxe is 2 minutes so if there is no interaction on a course page for 2 minuntes we stop the timer for Time within a course.

Best regards

Jon

@jonsynnott - thank you as always for the detailed answers!

One final question on this - if a course contains a Scorm file - which takes on adverage 10 mins for a user to complete - are users considered as inactive until they return to the Ti course? Or another way of asking is if we are looking at the total time spend within a course - is time spent in Scorm files included in the Ti metrics or not? If it isnt included - do we have a way of accessing that time spend in another way?

Hi @Christopher.Hernley

As the SCORM file is outide of TI, we are not aware of any learner activity taking place, so after 2 minutes of the learner engaging with the SCORM file the timer will stop until the learner complete the SCORM file and returns back to the native TI Page.

So simply put, Total Time Spent In Course will not include the time the learner spent in the SCORM file and will give a lower than actual time.

Kind regards

Jon

@jonsynnott got it - thank you Jon!
