Does anyone know whether a new learner can use anything other than an email address for their username when creating their account via redemption code? Or if they are invited manually?

Hi @KSchneider

Thanks for your question - happy to help!

Could you share a bit more about this type of learner and all the use case requirements for their TI experience? For example, if they don’t register with an email address, how would you track their progress or completions or how would you communicate in the system using notifications and such?

Many thanks!

Jeanne

Thanks, Jeanne,

Basically, I’m wondering if they can set a Username (like Kate1234) and an email address in the email field. That way, communications and learner tracking go to the email address, which I assume would still be a unique identifier, but the learner could log in with a different Username. I’m not sure exactly what the use case is, but I was asked by a group of learners so I said I’d find out. I’m more than a little concerned that the reason is so they can share a login with a group of people, so even if this was possible, I’d do some more checking on our end before I’d give them any instructions to do that.

Hi @KSchneider

Thanks so much for the additional context. Using native sign-in regardless of whether or not redemption/registration codes are used, learner profiles creation and log in must be done by setting an email address and you cannot also specify a username.

If you were to use SSO to log in this group of users, then you may be able to distinguish a username separate from their email address. They may log in with a username through the identity provider, but they still need to designate an email address for each learner profile in TI.

For this potential solution, I recommend we set up a technical call to talk through the feasibility and business impact of this configuration. Please let me know if you would like to get that scheduled, and I’ll follow up with you through Success Team.

Thanks, Kate!

Thanks, Jeanne,

I will pass on your answers and if we do decide to pursue login changes for this group, we can definitely do that. I appreciate your help!
