We have a Learning path which contains over 200 e-learning modules. We’d like to open the training up for an entire panorama of learners, if they pay at a certain level. What is the Best way to manage this, taking into consideration that we need to:

  • Expire access in 1 year after payment
  • Track (report on) every learner who has started taking even just 1 e-learning during that payment year (noting that they may have access in a prior year, so reporting on Learning Path Progress isn’t helpful)
  • NOT use Redemption or Registration codes

We’ve been thinking about using a sub-license to make it easy for expiration, but we would have to do a bulk upload to start out and no one else in the pano could access the training, unless they would know to message us to be put in the sub-license. That’s more work for both us and the customer. Plus, you can’t report on sub-licenses by themselves.

Hi Annette,

So for confirmation your use case is as follows:

  1. For specific panoramas you would like to provision access to a specific learning Path.
  2. You would like the learners to be able to see the learning Path and register to take the learning
  3. You would like access to the Learning path to expire X  number of days (is this the number of days after the Learning Path was added to the Panorama, or after the learner enrolled in the Learning Path?

Your idea of the sublicense could work and you could add the learning Path to the Panorama as a “Purchasable content”, but instead of giving the learner access to purchase the content, you could customize the course detail widget to have a form where the learner can request access to the Learning Path.

Let me know if this idea sounds acceptable and if so I can send you over a config doc I am working on, to facilitate this at the main site level.

Kind regards

Would limiting the availability of the Learning Path itself work?

As far as provisioning access, this can possibly be done by making the LP an eCommerce item, even if you’re not offering it for direct sales. You can add content tags and/or add it as a subscription to a learner whether in a Panorama or not. That way, other learners in the Panorama could maybe see the LP itself but not access any of the content items.
