We are having some issues with SCORM Connect with a few of our customers. We are not alone in having some issues and would love to hear from other users who may be experiencing this issue or have found a fix for it.

One of the issues is that the SCORM zip file has a .swf included and the customer LMS blocks any .swf uploads.

The other issue is that customers are having trouble with the file sending the completion data to their LMS. It loads and they can use it, but if they leave the course mid-way or complete it, it either marks it as failed, or doesn’t send back any data.

It appears that there is some information not being included in the SCORM Connect file. Just wanted to see if anyone else was having issues and interested in exploring some solutions with us.

We have had better luck after I removed the SWF file from the zip files. I haven’t had anyone reach out to say that completions are not working correctly?

Have you tested in SCORM Cloud to see what is happening in there?

I don’t know how we would test this in SCORM Cloud since it’s the customer LMS reporting the learner’s completion? I’m so over my head with this...

SCORM Cloud reports completion information as part of it’s reporting. So, you could load there, launch it, and see if it is reporting as completed before you have completed any of the content or half of the content or whatever.

So, that would tell you if it was on your end with TI, or if their side is picking it up wrong.

Another thing to test would be the other version of the SCORM file...so, if they are using 1.2, have them test with 2004 or vice versa.

Hi @charles.zimmerman & @LisaRollins Reading through this thread, it seems you all are the most familiar with SCORM Connect. For how we use TI, we uploaded our own SCORM files into a TI course or microcourse then use SCORM Connect to load that content into a customer’s 3rd party LMS. The biggest challenge we’ve encountered so far is resetting the Learner’s progress when they re-enroll in the course via their 3rd party LMS. I’ve enabled the flag under the SCORM page settings to Reset SCORM session data after completion AND the Enrollment > Ecommerce > Advanced > Restart Progress After Re-Enrollment setting but the only way the Learner’s progress truly reset is if their access is first revoked from their RealConnect User Access page.

Any solutions you have found or suggestions? Unfortunately, if we can’t get this sorted, we won’t be able to use SCORM Connect.

Thank you!!

@jbeeland It’s my understanding that course reset progress will have to be done via their LMS.  If not there is an API call for resetting user progress.  The original record of completion will be on both sites either way.  Hope that helps.

@jbeeland What do you mean re-enroll in the course in their LMS?

@charles.zimmerman In the 3rd party LMS, it is a fresh enrollment, but when the content opens in TI via SCORM Connect, the completion criteria are already met. Do you have experience using the API to reset their progress?

@LisaRollins In the 3rd party LMS, if a Learner needs to take a specific course again, they will get a new enrollment (re-enroll) in the course. When that happens, they need to be required to meet the completion criteria of the course again to receive credit. Currently, it’s marking the course as completed as soon as they launch it because in TI, the completion criteria is still being shown as met.

I appreciate the fast response from you both!!

@jbeeland You would have to use a third party tool like Postman or easier is Zapier to reset progress and use the API Ti article to determine the exact call.  We built our own API tool that let’s our customers do this themselves.  Next you take the content from the person with the trashcan and reassign it.  Actually, I think I would revoke the access, trashcan, and then reset their progress.  Hope this helps.
