Hello TI Community!

I am currently exploring the transition of our site from a gated experience to a more open, public format. My goal is to allow users to discover the site while still requiring them to log in to access content. Has anyone in the community successfully made this shift to a public site? If so, I would greatly appreciate any best practices or tips you could share regarding the process.

Background:

We operate under a gated experience that mandates all users to log in/authenticate, meaning our dashboard pages, catalog or other custom pages are not publicly accessible.

We utilize panoramas tailored for two distinct audiences, with each panorama featuring various sublicenses that further categorize users based on their audience type.

Hi Summer,

The best way to approach this is to create a catalog widget on your Landing page, this is what the learner/ browser lands on when they first acccess your site. If none of your content is Released then the catalog will be empty as only Released content displays outside of the Login screen. This way you have control over what content is displayed on the landing page.

In order to force the learner to log in to access the content you will need to choose the “Open to Learners only” option in the content authoring screen, at the Lesson level - see below

If you wish you can also allow a non logged in browser to consume a lesson within a course for free, then have to log in or purchase the content to continut - see HERE

For ease of managing the catalog in the Landing page, if you dont want all content tiles showing, would be to add a specific tag onto the content you want displayed outside the log in page and then use the catalog filters to show only those specific content items.

I always recommend clients to do a MPV proof of concept on a sandbox before rolling out on the production site.

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any additional questions.

Regards

Jon

Thanks for these details Jon, I’m sure I’ll have other questions given our specific config, but this is very helpful!
