I am interested in this response since I am about to do the same. I usually try to use the same course shells for any updates like this, but sometimes you have to create and add a new course.
@LisaRollins I’ve tested it twice in my sandbox - both times it replaced the course, even if the learner had started the one that was removed. So that’s what I’m going with. I’m hoping to hear from my CSM to confirm-
good luck!
Sounds good. It is nice to get a confirmation from @Thought Industries that it does work that way though!
@juliefiretech @LisaRollins You are really IN a Learning Path. It’s just a container w a completion status. If you remove old content and put in new content, then new content is what EVERYONE will see. If you are completed then you remain complete. If you are not complete then you have some new content to start. I hope this helps.
@charles.zimmerman Yes, that is a great explanation - thank you very much!
Quick clarification: what happens to the folks are are in the middle of a course within a learning path when we “replace” it with an updated one? Technically the one they are in the middle of is no longer part of the path. If it’s required for progression, what happens? @charles.zimmerman, do you know?
Thanks! I can’t find my notes on this “mid-progress” issue
@RKBrodeur I would have to test but each course is a unique number. For simplicity let’s say your Version A was numbered 34 by the LMS. You next Version B would have a unqiue number given by the LMS like a lottery. B is 92.
If my LP had 34 in it and I was moving along. You take it out and add 92, then I would lose my progress in that milestone and be at zero on Version B.
If you mean that Version A numbered 34 got an overhaul, then it is still 34, but now with changes you made that shouldn’t impact the version of course 34 assigned to me. You would have to also reset my progress.
All of this conjecture.
