Good question! I had to investigate this a little myself to find it. From Catalog Settings > Detail Page > Tabs > Add Tab > Free Text > add two paragraphs there.

Thank you for explanation Jeanne! I was able to test it  Need to consider whether it is optimal changing the current detail page layout to have the description as a tab instead of separate element. Would be interested to see the editing possibilities in the original description window, do you think should add it to product ideas?

You could certainly submit it as a product idea, I would just ensure you include the impact of a potential resolution to your business outcomes and why the existing workarounds don’t meet the requirements. Definitely recommend you talk through this with Rajiv to get those details defined.
