How are you organizing your media in Wistia?

Right now we have everything in a single folder but we want to get more organized. Curious to see what other folks are doing. TIA!

We have five subject areas, so we have five subfolders within that main folder. Each subject area subfolder contains videos for multiple courses. Right now we have a manageable number of videos in each subfolder so searching and trying to name things clearly is sufficient for us to find things. We just started this subfolder setup so we may decide to do a course-based subfolder structure in the future. It would be great to have sub-subfolders so we could have the subject subfolders with course sub-subfolders within, but that does not appear to be a feature available.

I have mine organized by our products, which match the tags we use in TI. When I update a video, I put the date of the update in the file name in Wistia. It makes it easy to see when it was updated. I also make sure to accurately name the videos there so I can quickly search for them.

I also have an Archived folder so I can keep the data for things we no longer use in TI..not a lot, because I usually just replace the video to update it, but there are a few that I keep.

@KatieBush  @LisaRollins and anyone else: Since you didn’t mention tags, I’m guessing you’re not using media tags? I’m not seeing it as an option and Ti Support is implying that we don’t have access to it due to our limited Wistia account. Huge bummer if that’s the case…

Thanks,

Gabby

@GabbyGuillen We are not using tags. I do see a tags option if I open the video details in Wistia, but it looks like the tags listed here are not ones we created. I’m guessing they are used by TI. Perhaps they are ones created the top level Wistia account and are therefore visible to all TI customers on the lower tier Wistia accounts.

@KatieBush  ok thank you for validating. This jives with what I saw in the Wistia support page where tags are managed by an admin or manager level and they flow down within the account, so essentially we’re all in 1 Wistia account together (including Ti and their content). It’s disappointing since it means we can’t use tags (since we don’t have permission to create our own), but at least I know it’s not just us.
