We are having some issues with SCORM Connect with a few of our customers. We are not alone in having some issues and would love to hear from other users who may be experiencing this issue or have found a fix for it.
One of the issues is that the SCORM zip file has a .swf included and the customer LMS blocks any .swf uploads.
The other issue is that customers are having trouble with the file sending the completion data to their LMS. It loads and they can use it, but if they leave the course mid-way or complete it, it either marks it as failed, or doesn’t send back any data.
It appears that there is some information not being included in the SCORM Connect file. Just wanted to see if anyone else was having issues and interested in exploring some solutions with us.
We have had better luck after I removed the SWF file from the zip files. I haven’t had anyone reach out to say that completions are not working correctly?
Have you tested in SCORM Cloud to see what is happening in there?
I don’t know how we would test this in SCORM Cloud since it’s the customer LMS reporting the learner’s completion? I’m so over my head with this...
SCORM Cloud reports completion information as part of it’s reporting. So, you could load there, launch it, and see if it is reporting as completed before you have completed any of the content or half of the content or whatever.
So, that would tell you if it was on your end with TI, or if their side is picking it up wrong.
Another thing to test would be the other version of the SCORM file...so, if they are using 1.2, have them test with 2004 or vice versa.
Hi
Any solutions you have found or suggestions? Unfortunately, if we can’t get this sorted, we won’t be able to use SCORM Connect.
Thank you!!
I appreciate the fast response from you both!!
We also have had issues with SCORM Connect not sending the correct completed/passed status back to the external LMS. The course will play fine, just not report back correctly.
Having the same problem with a client working in Cornerstone LMS. Any fixes found?
@alexi
I have a few customers who use Cornerstone and we have to remove the .swf file from the Zip for them to load it and then usually have had to test out both versions to see which works best and reports back. I have also seen a few cases of Cornerstone that it doesn’t play nice in their Sandbox, but it works fine in production.
We have been able to get it to work in there, but sometimes it takes a little back and forth,
Now, when I am connecting with a new customer, I send a test course in both versions with the .swf file removed and have them test both and see which one works best...not just works, but works best to open and send completion data back on their end.

Thanks for your response. We don´t have any .swf files in the SCORM packages. We´ve tried changing the pass/incomplete, complete/incomplete SCORM settings but nothing is addressing the “in progress” status showing as “failed” in the client´s LMS.
If it is coming from SCORM Connect in TI, it likely does have one .swf file buried in that zip file that is from TI, but if they are able to load it, then they must not have it blocked on their end.
Have you tested these in SCORM Cloud?
Sorry I can’t be of more help...those are just the things we have tested that have worked on our end with Cornerstone and others. The biggest “fix” is always for them to switch to the other version and use it. I haven’t had anyone who hasn’t been able to load at least one of the versions so far and I’d say the majority of my customers use 1.2.
